US Open 2013: Leander Paes enters semifinals of men’s doubles

New York: India’s Leander Paes along with Czech partner Radek Stepanek advanced to the semifinals of men’s doubles event at the US Open defeating the pair of Pakistan’s Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Netherlands` Jean-Julien Rojer on Tuesday.
 The fourth seeded Indo-Czech pair won 6-1, 6-7, 6-4 to enter the last four. Earlier, Paes and his partner had to battle for two hours and 12 minutes to overcome 14th seeded veteran French pair of Michael Llodra and Nicolas Mahut in the fourth round. The fifth seeded pair of Aisam and Rojer had defeated India’s Divij Sharan and China’s Yen-Hsun Lu to enter the quarterfinals.
 They will now face top-seeded American brothers Mike and Bob Bryan, who defeated the 12th-seeded British pair of Colin Fleming and Jonathan Marray 7-6 (7), 6-4 in their quarterfinal match. With PTI inputs
