Samsung Galaxy S4 shipments hit 20 million: Report

Samsung unveiled its flagship smartphone Galaxy S4 at an Unpacked event on March 14, 2013, with shipments beginning April 2013. A report by Yonhap News claims that the company has managed to ship over 20 million Samsung Galaxy S4 units of by end of June. The report also goes on to claim that it took Samsung Galaxy S III about 100 days to reach this mark, so its successor is selling 1.7 times faster. The publication also claims that Samsung managed to sell 500,000 units in Korea alone. In May, Samsung had announced that it has managed to ship 10 million units of its Galaxy S4 smartphone. RBC Capital Markets analyst Mark Sue has predicted that the Korean smartphone maker will ship 80 million units in 2013. The Samsung Galaxy S III had managed to ship 60 million units in the same period. Samsung Galaxy S4 sports a 5-inch full-HD screen with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels, and pixel density of 441ppi. It is powered by 1.6GHz Exynos octa-core processor in some regions, and a 1.9GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor in others. It has 2GB of RAM and a PowerVR SGX544MP3 triple-core GPU. The smartphone comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants but also features a microSD card slot for expanding the store. The Galaxy S4 sports a 13-megapixels rear shooter and a 2-megapixel one on the front. The Galaxy S4 offers more camera features including dual-shot, employing the use of both front and back camera, an eraser shot mode to remove people from photos, and a Cinemagram like feature called Cinema Photo, among several other tricks. It also offers a number of sensors including a temperature and humidity sensor and motion and gesture control features.
